Forbes has just drop a report that, Michael Jackson is the top earning dead celebrity, earning an astonishing $115million this year. In his more 30 years solo career, the King of Pop made an impressive over $1.1 billion. But it seems he has proved even more lucrative since his death, making a further $999 billion since 2009. The impressive sum comes from two Cirque du Soleil shows, his own music and publishing revenues, and his half of the Sony/ATV publishing catalogue. Michael Jackson’s latest annual income has seen him top a list of the highest earning dead celebrities, complied by financial magazine Forbes. In second place is Elvis Presley, who has made £36million, Peanuts cartoonist Charles Schulz comes in third with £26million, while fourth place, with £14million, goes to Bob Marley. Elizabeth Taylor rounds off the top five with £13million.

This is because the examination body has modified its procedure for students seeking admission for the 2016-2017 academic session with the introduction of the “preferred choice” platform in its portal. This new addition will enable candidates have wider opportunities of securing admission as sales of form for the session commenced on September 30 to end on January 30, 2016. Lagos wary of bombings at places of worship

Abuja - The Lagos State Government has called for more security vigilance in churches and mosques to prevent attacks by terrorists. The state government said the measure was necessary amid renewed attacks by the Boko Haram sect on religious institutions. The State Commissioner for Ministry of Home Affairs, Abudul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, made the call during a meeting with religious leaders. The event was part of efforts by the present administration to improve security consciousness of all residents.

‘If armed robber gets death sentence, what of corrupt govt official ?

Abuja – A Rivers-based lawyer, Mr Abdulkareem Dauda, has said that an amendment to the law governing corruption to impose death penalty on convicted corrupt government officials and others was justifiable and desirable. Dauda said this in an interview with , Tuesday, in Abuja. The legal practitioner said death sentence for those found guilty of corruption was justifiable, considering the multiplier effects of corruption, which destroyed every sector of the society. He added that “if an armed robber who kills one or two persons or robbed at gunpoint gets a death sentence, what of a corrupt government official whose action destroys many lives?.’’ He said corruption was a more dangerous offence than armed robbery and should, therefore, attract stiffer punishment in order to deter others. “In my opinion, corruption should attract death penalty. Pregnant woman who was bathed with hot oil over puff puff loses pregnancy

25 year old woman, Chiwendu Nwobodo who was bathed with hot groundnut oil by a neighbour in Surulere Lagos over puff-puff supposedly worth N900 has lost her two-month-old pregnancy. According to PUNCH Metro, Her husband, Chigozie, said   that his wife had also developed complications as her left ear was now oozing pus and that Iya Daniel has been re-arrested and detained at the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba. This whole incident reportedly happened because Chiwendu and Iya Daniel, who were neighbours and lived on Ogbomosho Street, Ijesha, in the Surulere area had had a disagreement which made Pregnant Chiwendu kick some puff-puff that belonged to Iya Daniel. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday named Professor Mahmood Yakubu from Bauchi State as the new Chairman of the In­dependent National Electoral Com­mission (INEC). The appointment which followed an emergency meeting of the Na­tional Council of State (NCS) which held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday, put to rest speculations that non- appointment of a substantive INEC Chairman may stall elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States. Speed up work on Apapa gridlock motion, Lagos begs senate

Lagos State Government has appealed to the Senate to hasten deliberations on the motion moved by the Senator representing the Lagos Central District, Oluremi Tinubu, on the gridlock in the Apapa area. The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, who stated this in Alausa on Tuesday, also commended the Senate for approving the motion. Ayorinde said the development had shown that the state government’s effort at providing solution to the traffic congestion in the area had caught the attention of the Senate. Arik’s planes collide at Lagos airport, grounded

L AGOS— Two planes belonging to Arik Air, yesterday, brushed each other while manoeuvring out of the apron at the General Aviation Terminal, GAT, of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. The two planes had their wing tips damaged and have been grounded to allow further investigation into the incident. Reacting to the incidence, spokesman of the airline, Mr. Adebanji Ola, said in a statement: “Two of our aircraft, Boeing 737-800NG were this afternoon (yesterday) involved in a wing-tip brush at the General Aviation Terminal, GAT, of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos. “One of the aircraft, 5N-MJP, was marshalled out of the ramp for a scheduled flight, when its wing brushed that of another aircraft, 5N-MJQ, parked on the ramp. “There were no incidences as the safety of passengers was not jeopardized.
